I have long had a fascination and love of herbs and spices. Actually my A-Z Blogathon for 2013 was based on Herbs and Spices.
With Summer reaching the 1/2 was point my personal little herb garden has begun to thrive.
I am a city dweller (albeit a small city) ,still the same, therefore my gardens are not like those of you who have "acreage" to contend with. Fortunately herbs do not take up a lot of space and a small plant provides more than enough flavorful additives to our summer meals.
These window boxes on the edge of our back deck make it easy for me to pop out and grab whatever fresh herb I need to make our meal more flavorful.
In the foreground of the large pic is lemon balm, curly leaf parsley , and the smaller pics are (top to bottom) Mojito mint, Sweet Fennel, Golden Oregano and Golden Sage. Basil ,Rosemary, Tarragon And Thyme are all there as well.
Love the use of window boxes for the herbs. I need to start growing some herbs myself.
ReplyDeleteOf course, I would probably kill them too.
Oh, Kewkew I bet you would have a fabulous herb garden. You just plant and water, nothing fancy!!
DeleteHow fun that you did the a-z on these! I guess I didn't realize there were that many! I would love to have an herb garden!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that either, Mimi, but still had to dig really khard to come up with some of the "letters" of herbs!!LOL
DeleteI almost posted herbs today too! Glad I didn't your's would put mine to shame, love the collage it looks really nice!
ReplyDeleteOh, Monica,I seriously doubt that. I'm just learning to use Pic-monkey and having fun. Thanks for the compliment.
DeleteYour herb garden looks good and healthy. With all the rain we've had here this year compared to summers past, my rosemary is about growing wild. The others are doing well, but the rosemary is outta control.
ReplyDeleteThat's interesting, Susan, as it's the mint that is out of control with my garden. I suppose it could be worse if there was no rain. Thanks for the comment.
DeleteOh, so beautiful and full of health for you. My mom is huge on having a vegetable garden. Somehow, that patience gene didn't pass down to me. :) Wish it did.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for WW.
Not to worry Silvia, when the kids were small and my life more hectic, I didn't have the time or energy. All in good time! Thanks for your nice comment.
DeleteWe usually grow herbs on our balcony, only have basil this year, not sure why.
ReplyDeleteI find basil one of the more difficult herbs to grow and am surprised that this one is still thriving!
DeleteHerbs are nice to grow!
ReplyDeleteYou know, Rosey, I think they are too. I love to just run my hand over them and enjoy the scent.
DeleteBack at you, Jennifer. Love your site. Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeletewindow boxes are perfect for herbs! i don't have a green thumb at all, but i do seem to be able to keep most herbs alive. :)
ReplyDeleteI agree, Grace, with the possible exception of needing to be watered, they are pretty self sufficient. That's why I enjoy them, too.
