Wordless Wednesday~ w Linky Papa's Birthday
Like most families that live in reasonably close proximity to each other, we gather for any "special" dates...the usual holidays, Mother's Day,Father's Day etc, but birthdays are the best!

Wordless Wednesday ~ w/Linky Pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow??
What is special about "summer" in the part of the world that you live in?? For me... and most of the people I surround myself with, it's the warmer weather, longer days, more sunshine...oh, did I mention warmer weather, feelings of optimism, a general euphoria, lighter clothing and last, but by no means least there is WARMER WEATHER!
On one of these days we experienced a mid-afternoon summer shower and followed by, yes, you guessed it... a full ROY G. BIV rainbow!
Although the one I managed to snap was only touching the ground on one side, but for me that was enough.... I was off to find a leprechaun and snap up his pot of gold!!! Wanna share??!!

- Oh definitely, I could use a share of a pot of gold. Never seen ROYGBIV written that way, not a bad idea for remembering. I like the warmer weather, but not the high heat and/or humidity.ReplyDelete
- Breathtaking shot! I love rainbows but I have not seen one in a long time. Thanks for hosting.ReplyDelete

I love checking out everyone's photos for this Wordless Wednesday. Each one has a story. What was happening in your life at the particular moment that you thought you would stop what you are doing and snap a picture?
Whether you use your smart phone, or a large expensive camera with fancy lens, or something in between, you take a photo and come here and share it with all of us. For a large number of people with small children , they are the subject of "cute" "hilarious" and downright "adorable" pics. For others it's pets or maybe a neighborhood event that is the subject of your WW contribution.
For me.... for this week... here's my story.
I was visiting my son and daughter-in-law and my grand kids when I could smell the unmistakable perfume of roses. Roses are my favorite flower but I particularly love white roses and that is what was growing in their yard. I picked a couple of buds and that, my dear friends, is my photo for this week.

- Beautiful. I love roses, too. Have red roses in my back and front yard. Vivid color, great to see out the window when I have time to look. They have to be cared for though ... not wild. I wish they were wild.ReplyDelete

Going for the Gold....Marigolds that is....
A group of school students in the southern New Brunswick area are hoping to break the world record for the most flowers planted in one day.
On June 6,2013 the local schools took to the streets and headed to Main Street to begin the 16th annual Marigolds on Main Street. They have been growing marigold plants for the past few months and now was time to "get'er done"!!!
With amazing teachers, a few parents (and this grandparent) accompanying them, the boys and girls were in high spirits and optimistic that the previous record of 1,215 participants could beaten. All construction work in the area ceased, and streets were closed down to maintain optimum safety for all concerned.
A detour around an idle piece of heavy equipment is just a bonus! |
Arriving from all directions to convene on Main Street! |
Nothing like a warm-up dance to get in the mood to break a record. |
With the help of plastic spoons, little hands did a lot of work! |
Just some of the hundreds of children who participated. |
Two sweet little boys waiting for their turn to dig in!! |
Oh,yeah, in case you are wondering ,although not official...yet.. the record was shattered!!

- What an accomplishment! I love it! Fun, beautiful AND a record-breaker; sounds like the perfect day!ReplyDelete
- Great pics. Perhaps some of those kids will learn to love gardening. You never know what roots you plant when you do a project of this nature!ReplyDelete
- What a wonderful way to get a job done, by including the children. They will see those flowers and know they were a part of making it happen.ReplyDelete

There are some things that just say "fun" and only a child can truly represent that!
A little boy with a new helmet that has graduated from a tricycle to a bike (with training wheels)!!!
Our 6 year old grandson who is also displaying his lack of a front bottom tooth!!

May 29,2013
Hard to believe it is already the end of May!!! Although I am happy that we have seen an entire day of beautiful sunshine the weather is still cool. There are however, some unmistakable signs of spring.
There are several examples of "spring in the air" despite what the weather person ( must be politically correct) says is in store for us. One of them is this photo I took just a few hours ago.

Another perspective would be that of a loving family, but the choice is ultimately yours.
I like to call this "Many hearts on the same branch"!!

I have posted this shot once before, but energy production is always in the forefront.
I like how the past and the present are seen in this peaceful looking photo. Traditional farming from yesteryear and wind farms from the present. |

- I always enjoy seeing windfarms, especially when the windmills are high up on a hillside, I think they look attractive although I gather many don't.ReplyDelete
JO ON FOOD, MY TRAVELS AND A SCENT OF CHOCOLATE
- I work in a law office and one of our biggest client is a wind farm enterprise. Always fun doing their work and watching the innovation and all the good that can be done for the future. Great photo.ReplyDelete
- Better wind farms than a lot of our other new energy sources.. I too like the majestic look of them.ReplyDelete

Wordless Wednesday --w LINKY May 15,2013
Today is a grey, cold, damp day and I really have to push my promise to myself to find something good each day. But I did it.....
At first all I saw was a blue spruce in our yard, but when I put my "rose colored glasses" on I saw
a promise of the future. Future growth, expansion, longevity. I could go on, but this is wordless Wednesday, and this is about as wordless as I can get!!!

I know it is already well into March, and normally that means that Spring is almost here. I don't know what part of the world you live in, but this is not far from where I live. My son-in-law was on his snowmobile and decided to stop to get a picture.... and this was what happened. He says "a squirrel" took the picture!!!
Also, this is my first time wandering in Wordless Wednesday..... hope to visit again.
Besides, the kids will do just about anything for a piece of ice-cream cake!!!
