One more time....with feeling!

January    2015

If you speak French--Encore en fois..... Perhaps Spanish is your language--vamos a intentar de nuevo... or far away in Russia it would be--Давайте попробуем еще раз... or in plain old English, "One more time... let's give it a try!

The reason for this prelude is that I have been away from my Sugar& Spice&All Things?Nice blog for about a year now, actually it has been 11 months. ( I have been counting)  The reasons for this  are various and sundry and they all involve me.  I won't bore you  with details, but I do want to give it another try. I want this blog to be special....you know, like yours and all those others that I read and enjoy. I want to make you laugh, maybe make you cry ( but not often), inspire your imagination and activate your salivary glands ( before you get huffy, that means make you drool!) with amazing recipes.  Maybe just some fun discussions about words or phrases that interest me.... and hopefully you as well.

Whew, so glad that is off my chest. I have been losing sleep worrying about whether or not to return to blogging and procrastinating to the point that days, weeks and months have actually flown
by to the extent it is now 2015!!

Recently my hubby and I took a drive to a nearby park. Despite the fact that I abhor all things winter one of my New Year Hopes ( note-not a resolution but a desire/hope... to me there is a difference) is to try to find something positive in all things .This weeks "thing" is weather! This is very challenging given the fact that lately it is not uncommon for the Wind Chill Factor , ie, "feel like temp" to be -40 degrees Celsius!!

Here are a couple of examples of the beauty I found on this frigid afternoon.

I love the  snow covered trees against the brilliant blue of the sky. Amazingly the snow only adhered to this one area of the tree. Had I been on the opposite side of this path the photo would look entirely different.

Couldn't resist this "Study of Circles" that this park bench  presented. I'd rather be sitting on it in the summer, but I am really trying to "see the best" so bear with me.

Lastly, the "Deer and Crows". I was able to get out of the car, snap the pic and not a head so much as raised. That gal in the back was so deep in conversation with the crow, I was not even worth a glance.

I would love to know what  do you like about Winter.... I need all the help I can get!

Keep smiling.

  1. Let me be the first one to welcome you back to the blogging world. I was in Chicago last week where the temps didn't go above single digits...but I survived. I can take small doses of just about anything. :)

  2. I'm not a fan of winter. I enjoy looking at other peoples' pictures - it looks lovely in pictures - but PLEASE don't make me go outside!

    1. Thanks so much, Monica. This just means I'll probably be bugging you about "blog problems" now. It is nice to be back, though.

  5. Hey, not sure how much help I would be but if I can do anything at all, I don't mind one little bit! I cannot count the number of people I have asked questions of and they have all been so nice...I would love to pay-it- forward.

  6. I admit I'm not a constant follower of blogs but will endeavour to be there and if this is a preview of what's to be coming definitely worth joining in. I am amazed at the photos. Each one better than the first, and the first was fabulous. I love winter now that I'm retired and can choose to stay indoors if I want on a cold day. However when I had to get out in a cold car come whatever I was less a fan. I think your photos Pat would make anyone enjoy getting out in it and I am gonna do the same thanks to your fine example. Welcome back and looking forward to much more. <3

    1. Oh Betty, thank you so much. I will try to make it worth your while to stop by on occasion. Like you, I find that retirement puts the ball in my court to decide if I go out or not. That's nice too!
