Reflections

Well, here it is  the end of  September already, and we in this part of Canada are wondering where our summer went and how did it get away so quickly.
As I have said before, I am no longer working at the job I have had for the past 25+ years and thought  the "time off" would stretch out in front of me like the endless horizon of the Atlantic (or Pacific) Ocean.   On the contrary, it seems as if every day has been filled to the brim. There has been the odd day with nothing planned that has been used to catch up on (a) housework (b)  sleep/rest or (c) reducing my ever growing " to do" list.

What I have done though, is spend time reflecting on who I am ( need much more time for this one), what a wonderful part of the world I live in, and what can/should I do with the rest of my life!

OK, so this is a bit heavy for the  type of post I usually  put together, so will try to keep it light and simple. ( this works best for me, hope it does for you too!)  I  explain best when there are visual accompaniments..... they are better than words, or at least the kind of words that I generally use.
I have chosen 4 pictures that  best explain what I am trying to convey.

There is still a lot of our beautiful  life stretched out before me. This  spectacular  view and the next  two pictures  are on the Fundy Trail in New Brunswick.

I also know that life  is not always easy or simple and often  we face  an uphill climb. Thankfully such tasks are still within the realm of possibility for me.   Just in case you are wondering, this particular climb consists of horizontal  2x4  boards strung together with wire cable. There are 59 of them, according to my sister , I however, was too busy hanging on and lifting one foot after the other!!

Now the conundrum that plagues me is what path in life , if any, should I pursue.  While still on the Fundy Trail, we detoured to a very old (1700's) graveyard and this  path led from there..... how ironic!

After careful consideration, or to coin an over used phrase, "at the end of the day", my life will most likely progress that way it has for the last number years...... one day at a time, with hope and optimism!

  3. We do live in an amazing part of the world, and these pictures do tell a story. The first one is beautiful and there to discover, the next one makes us aware of the difficult steps we take through the day, and life. Then the pretty path from the graveyard, with thoughts of those who had been here before..and at the end, the wonderful golden sunset to lead us back home...Life is a beautiful thing, even with all of its difficult paths, it holds a world of treasure. And you, my friend, with your warm and open heart, are an inspiration to all of us...you walk the path through the beautiful trails and up the difficult steps of life.... thank you for this inspiring piece. Love you, Carole xo

    1. We do indeed have many more adventures ahead of us, and we have each other (literal family and extended family) to give us a "push" up any hill we find too steep. Thanks for your comment.
